Cost of Cosworth worth the price?

Decided to stop by the shop today to check in on my car. The head is off the stock block, and is currently at the shop getting worked on. Meanwhile, the Cosworth block was put in. As you can see in the pictures, it looks pretty damn dirty and dusty. It sat in an open crate in the corner of a garage for a while before I decided to pick it up :P Anyways, the car will be running at 2.2L. Yes, 2.2L... if you don't know, the retail shortblock that Cosworth sells is a 2.5L, that retails for about $4.9k to 5.4k. This is a custom FULLY built 2.2L shortblock, that I'm now allowed (thx Gruppe-S) to say, I purchased for $2.9k, NEW. The head is being cleaned and re-machined for a newlike performance so that it runs like silk when matched up with the new Cosworth block. I still havn't decided on the turbo setup yet.

And.... is the "Cost of Cosworth worth the pirce?"..... Yes.

Pics from my iPhone again...

More umph!

A little over 2 weeks ago, I took the car, and crated block to the shop to give my car a little extra "umph". Replacing the stock 2.0 motor with a bored out Cosworth built 2.2 block. Still under the knife in the machine shop, it should be done within a week or two. The new block will be complimented some time in the future with a 450-550hp rated turbo; type/model still to be determined. Currently running stock JDM (non twin scroll), divorced wastegated turbo. Anyways, got it from gruppe-s for a great price...

vroom vroom...

The Other Side of the Rainbow....

Headed over out to Temecula yesterday to kill some time, eat some BBQ, and have some beers. Not to mention to check out "Liquids Garage", and his little project he has goin on. Pretty chill day, we talked about cars, future plans for cars, food, and what the hell there is to do in Temecula besides going to P-TOWN... which isnt much at all! Anyways, pics taken with my iPhone...... Thx for letting us watch part of the bootleg version of Step Brothers, Jae ^__^

In like Flynn

Painted and installed. A good 4-5 days of work of priming and painting and 2-3 days of drilling/fitting; on and off ofcourse...

Fitting and Drilling

All I have to say is; This cage is a son of a BITCH to install. This thing comes with almost no holes at all, everything needs to be fitted and drilled. Anyways, work, work, work....

Drilling through the floor....

Mid/Rear section fitted

Working through the night...

Ouchie...

Spiderman for the lose... with the pillow, my ass still hurt like hell!

dags!

Busting a Michael Jackson on ya!

Get it!?? The cage WAS black, but now, its gunna turn white! lol gay... ehhhh....

ok, so... I actually painted the cage about a week after I got it. Meaning; these pictures are about 3-4 months old... SO WHAT...

Anyways, primer and about 3-4 coats of semi gloss white. Rattle can ftw.

Caged In

I ordered this thing about 2-3 weeks ago, and it's already here. With the Spring/Summer racing season coming up, the projected build time for the cage from AutoPower was 8-12 weeks, but fortunately they were able to get to my order before the order rush! Anyways; pics of my 6 point AutoPower Roll Cage.

how it's supposed to look when put together, minus the window net and incorrect side bar location...

Pics of the actual cage taken right off the freight truck...

Hello Megan ^_~

Picked up some Megan Racing v2 Coilovers today. Picked them up in Placentia, which was only a 20 minute drive from work, but almost two hours going back home because the 405 had only 2 lanes open >_<

New rubber and wheels

In the spirit of going with a new theme with the car, I've purchased 18x8.5 +48 5Zigen FN01R-C's. I could have gone with a wider wheel, but I think 8.5 is quite perfect for the WRX. Depending how it sits on the car with the 245/40-18 (10mm's wider than my current tires on my 17x8.5 VOLK CE28N's) Dunlop Sport Z1's sit on the rim, I may purchase some wheels spacers. Size of course, dependent on how flush/not flush the wheels sit within the wheel well.

Current State of Things - Desire Re-Ignited

I'll admit, soon after I repainted the car, I didn't have much interest in my car anymore. Some other non related issues arose and priorities changed. For a while; I was considering to scrap the car totally, and go with something different. After a few months, I decided to start working the car again, but the passion still wasn't really there; not as much as when I first got my car atleast.

I needed a push, some inspiration for change... something. Well, that something came in a pretty unorthodox fashion - a car accident. around October/November'ish of 2007, I was pushed into the center divider by a big rig truck. That was the push, the nudge, the pickup I needed. I have more desire now, than ever before, to setup the car the way I want it. Not the way anyone else wants it; no influence from random people from message boards or car meets; this new project will be... "all me".

Back to the future - Stage 2 (end)

Car at it's peak after the major facelift. A lot of off and on work a few month's after the change, but for the most part; the car stayed as you see.

Back to the future - Stage 2 (5)
